Michigan voters have less than two weeks to finalize their voting plans for the November 3 election, a date that is currently a little more than a week away as of late October. The state is holding a primary election that includes contests for governor, U.S. Senate, Michigan Supreme Court, Attorney General, and Secretary of State. Races for the 7th and 10th Congressional Districts are also on the ballot, alongside Proposals 1 and 2.

Voters who have not yet requested an absentee ballot face specific cutoffs depending on their chosen method. Those applying online or by mail must have their requests submitted or received by local clerks by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 30. Individuals applying in person at a clerk's office have until 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 1. Michigan Public notes that while these are the final deadlines, signing up at least 15 days before the election is recommended to ensure ballots arrive and are returned in time.

Unregistered voters can still participate if they act quickly. A person can register to vote and vote on the same day. To do so, they must visit their local clerk's office or a satellite location with proof of residency documentation. If a voter is not registered or needs to update their registration, they have until 8 p.m. on Election Day to visit their clerk's office. At that location, they can register, request an absentee ballot, and submit it on-site before the polls close.

Residents can verify their registration status and locate their assigned polling place through the state's official voter website. The same platform lists early voting locations and their operating hours. Michigan Public is monitoring results for the major statewide and federal races and is publishing candidate interviews and stance comparisons on its website. The outlet advises readers to check back closer to Election Day for additional information as it becomes available.

The November 3 contest will determine the outcome of several high-profile positions in Michigan. The gubernatorial race and the U.S. Senate seat are among the primary focus areas for local coverage. Additionally, the election will decide the makeup of the Michigan Supreme Court and the offices of Attorney General and Secretary of State. Congressional districts 7 and 10 are also up for grabs, with voters choosing between candidates for these specific legislative seats.

Michigan Public states it is tracking the outcomes for Proposals 1 and 2 in addition to the candidate races. The organization provides direct comparisons of candidate stances and has conducted interviews with participants in the key contests. All election information, results, and updates are accessible on the homepage or the dedicated election section of the Michigan Public website.
