Gamblers facing the Monday night NBA matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves are looking at a projected high-scoring affair. SportsLine’s projection model, which simulates each game 10,000 times, estimates the combined total will reach 236 points. This projection exceeds the current over/under line of 231.5 set by sportsbooks. The model has hit the over in five of its last eight predictions involving Minnesota and seven of its last ten involving Cleveland.

The Cavaliers, who defeated the Brooklyn Nets 125-121 on Saturday, are listed as 5.5-point favorites for the contest at Rocket Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Cleveland enters the game with a 1-1 record and a 1-0 home mark for the 2026-27 season. The team finished second in the Central Division last year with a 52-30 record. Donovan Mitchell leads Cleveland’s offense, averaging 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in two starts.

Minnesota is attempting to extend its undefeated start to 4-0. The Timberwolves beat the Toronto Raptors 117-94 on Sunday and hold a 2-0 road record. Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable due to knee injury management. When active, Edwards averages 28.7 points, five rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 31.3 minutes. Six players on the Minnesota roster average at least 12 points per game. The team finished third in the Northwest Division last season at 49-33.

SportsLine’s model has generated approximately $19,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated NBA picks since 2018. The system has posted four-digit profits for five consecutive seasons. In the current run, the model is 26-10 on top-rated spread picks dating back to the previous season. The model indicates that the over has hit in all four previous meetings between these two franchises.

Betting markets reflect the teams’ recent offensive performances. Cleveland’s average score of 123.5 points per game and Minnesota’s 114.5 points per game contribute to the high total line. The model’s simulation of 10,000 games suggests the over will hit 56% of the time. Sportsbooks currently offer a 5.5-point spread in favor of the home team. The projected 236-point total implies an average of 118 points per team, a figure supported by the scoring averages of their respective guards.
